- Twelve prestigious universities and schools in Europe, the United States and Australia are taking part in the Cosentino Group’s international competition for students.
- The competition consists of two different categories – Architecture and Design and is open to students of these disciplines from all over the world.
- Entries will be accepted, in both hard copy and digital formats, between 28 February and 1 June 2013.
UK, 28 February 2013 – The world leader in the production and distribution of innovative surfaces for architecture and design, Cosentino is launching its 7th international Cosentino Design Challenge. Entries can be submitted from 9am on the 28 February for the two categories; Architecture and Design and will be accepted until 8pm on 1 June 2013.
The Cosentino Design Challenge is open to all students enrolled during the 2012-2013 academic year in any school or centre of higher education for design, architecture or similar courses from anywhere in the world.
The Cosentino Design Challenge is an international competition with collaborations from twelve prestigious international schools and partners: American Society of Interior Designers (United States); University of Technology Sydney (Australia), Design Academy Eindhoven (Netherlands), Istituto Europeo di Design Milano and Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano (Italy); Hochschule für Technik, Wirtschaft und Kultur Leipzig (Germany); and Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid, Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona, Escuela Superior de Diseño de Madrid, Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Sevilla, Escuela de Arte de Almería and Escuela de Arte Superior de Diseño de Alicante (Spain). For the first time, the University of Newcastle (Architecture and Design School) in the UK will also be launching the competition to its students.
The Cosentino Design Challenge aims to harness and develop the talent of students, promoting research into the different conceptual approaches to the layout of spaces, materials and the construction systems that define them, using materials made by the Cosentino Group. All research and development for the projects should be based on environmental friendliness, and the reuse of resources and waste management.
The subject of the Design category in this 7th edition of the competition is that students reflect on “Cosentino and the office”. Designs presented in this category are completely open to interpretation but must fall under this theme, and must feature Cosentino materials adapted for this purpose.
The subject of the Architecture category is the design of an outdoor kitchen from an innovative conceptual perspective, mainly using Cosentino materials.
There will be three first prizes of 1,000 Euros each, three runner up prizes and three special mentions chosen by the judges. The judges comprise of well-known and respected figures from the world of architecture and design. The judges will meet and make their decision in June 2013.
